This week we are back on the covered patio area at Cherry Valley Country Club at 7:30AM on Thursday. Members can also attend via Zoom - an email will go out to members with the link prior to the meeting. This week's speaker will be Lynn Malooly with Water For South Sudan.
Woody Allen once remarked that "80% of success in life is just showing up". Greeters, if you are scheduled, please show up. Every action packed issue of the Reveille contains the greeter schedule for the upcoming four weeks. The greeter schedule generally moves in alphabetical order but occasionally there are some times where the order shifts. You can still be a Greeter even if you're attending via Zoom. If you can't make it the week you are assigned, please let Zoltan Nagy know ahead of time.
Our goal is to have all 50/50 tickets sold by May 1st which means there are only a few weeks left. You can bring sold 50/50 ticket stubs and money to our weekly meetings and give them to Zoltan Nagy who will get them to Paul Blodgett. Any questions, ask Paul. Further ranting and raving on this topic can be found in this week's President's Message.
Web site is up! Click HERE. Ad and press release are ready for next Montgomery News. Yard Signs for around town are ready to go. We even have text for members to email contacts to solicit sponsorships. We can’t fund the great things we support without funds. Give your friends the OPPORTUNITY to Honor their Heroes. Ask them “WHO IS YOUR HERO?”
A few slots still available!!! Looking for TEN volunteers on Tuesday, May 11 to work onsite with Habitat for Humanity at the Willow Road location, 9am - 2pm. Please add your name to the signup sheet which can be found HERE. If ten have already signed up, add your name in case we need a replacement. This will be a great day of service. There is still time to register for the Rotary District 7475 Conference which, due to COVID-19, will be held virtually on the evening of May 11-14. For more information about the schedule of events and registrations, please visit the conference website HERE.
Joining Kevin Lynch, Cory Wingerter just started advertising his business on our website! For information on rates and procedure, go the home page of our website and download the website sponsorship guide found on the right hand side of the page. There will be a limited number of rotating ads and club members will get first crack at the opportunity before it is opened to the general public. Proceeds from ad sales will be used to offset the club's website and communications expenses. Any questions, ask the webmaster Matt Romanoski.
A request from our Public Relations Director Heather Achenbach - please like, share and comment on the posts on our club Facebook page!! It's a numbers game. The more people that like, share and comment on posts, the more the posts will be visible to community members and the more likely that we can attract new members.
One of my favorite movie scenes is the real estate office scence from Glengarry Glen Ross where the character played by Alec Baldwin issues a savage beratement of the sales staff for not closing enough deals and tells Jack Lemmon’s character to put down that cup of coffee because “coffee is for closers!” (if you’ve never seen the movie, you really should). I wanted to implement the same idea at our weekly meetings regarding sales of 50/50 tickets but, apparently, I’m told this flies in the face of #3 of the Rotary Four Way Test - “Will it build goodwill and better friendships?”. So, fear not, the coffee will continue to flow freely.
