Those who rescue us…

When we are at our most fearful, faced with an emergency, Montgomery & Rocky Hill First Responders ARE our heroes. Local first responders and police are worthy of honor for the true service they give to our community.  The Rotary Club of Montgomery/Rocky Hill would like to acknowledge those who give so much of themselves to help our community.

This December, we will be raising flags to honor those volunteers in our town. As a free event, the Rotary will display 100+ full size flags in front of the Montgomery Upper Middle School along with the names of all our first responder volunteers.
This event will coincide with the arrival of Wreaths Across America, as the convoy returns to Montgomery this December 11. Each year the Wreaths Across America convoy of trucks carries thousands of holiday wreaths to Virginia, one for each grave at Arlington Cemetery. The mission is to remember our fallen soldiers, honor those who serve and teach children the value of freedom. For more information visit https://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org

The Rotary’s free December event is to honor our first responders and welcome the veterans and gold star families that travel with Wreaths Across America project.

The original Flags for Heroes event will return next summer around Flag Day in June. The Rotary will offer flag sponsorships so that local community members may honor the heroes in their lives. Each flag sponsored will have a personalized tag with the hero’s name, sponsor’s name and if desired the reason they are a hero. At the end of the event, Rotary will mail the tags to the sponsors (sponsors have the additional opportunity to purchase the flags as mementos). Proceeds are for charitable giving, specific charity to be announced. Look for details next spring about the Memorial Day to Flag Day Flags for Heroes event.

Stop by the flag display honoring our local first responders in December in front of Montgomery Upper Middle School, 375 Burnt Hill Road, Skillman. Then next spring, look for your opportunity to sponsor a flag for your hero.
