Because the Rotary year runs from July thru June, “next year” is only a few months away.  Over the last two weeks, I’ve put included a blurb in the Reveille about contacting President-Elect Andy if you are not on the Board and interested in serving (as well as the reverse case, which is that you are on the Board and interested in stepping off).  Andy has been in India the last two weeks so, as of press time, I haven’t spoken with him to see if anyone has contacted him regarding this matter.  But, if you haven’t done so, do it soon.

I was recently reminded by the District that we should already have our officers for next year loaded into ClubRunner.  Historically, our club doesn’t tend to firm this up until Spring.  The District provides a lot of training for the President-Elect prior to the commencement of their term so they at least want to make sure we have that individual identified which, fortunately, we do.

While I expect the bulk of the Board this year to carryover into next year, some turnover is good.  In talking with Presidents of other Rotary clubs, as well as, other civic organizations, the kiss of death for any organization is when a “we’ve always done it that way” attitude becomes ingrained.  To be candid, I think we have a little bit of that in our club but not a fatal dose.  All I ask is that we stay open to new ways of doing things.

The rollout of the vaccine has, thus far, not gone as swiftly as I would have hoped.  Originally, I was thinking we might be back to “normal” by late Spring.  But I am still optimistic the bulk of the next Rotary year could be productive and we need to get in position to make it happen.

Rotarically Yours,
Zoltan Nagy
President
Rotary Club of Montgomery/Rocky Hill (NJ)
