What does a great organization look like? What would it do and who would be in it?

I’d recommend that everyone take a look around the room on Thursday. Because it looks like us!

Great organizations do the things that we do. They serve the community whenever there is a need. They offer help with disaster relief in far away places. They operate with great ideals like “Service above Self.”  They measure themselves and their decisions against high standards such as the Four Way Test: Is it the Truth? Is it Fair to all concerned? Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships? Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Whenever you’re traveling through a “gray” area in your life, the Four Way Test puts things in perspective and it makes for correct decisions.

But Wait, There’s More!: Great organizations are welcoming and inclusive. They judge the character of an individual regardless of party affiliation or religious belief. They concentrate on how to best solve a problem without choosing sides. The only thing on their agenda is how to best solve a problem and do the greatest good.   I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I believe that our Rotary club could solve a lot of the world’s problems. Any time that you put good people together, whose only concern is how to solve a problem, great outcomes are inevitable.  We all approach challenges from various angles and different points of view. But we all know how to work together, solve problems and we make things happen!

Two new members are being inducted into our club this week. I’m proud to welcome Ron Dolenti and Norman Silverstein into our Rotary family. I sent an email welcoming them both to our club. Here is their combined response: “Great! Looking forward to it! Looking forward to participating with Rotary and assisting in making a difference in the lives of members of our community.”  I believe that our (already great) club just got better! It’s a pleasure to have you both as members.

A team is not a group of people who work together. A team is a group of people who trust each other.” —Simon Sinek

Board Meeting and Giving Budget: I’d like to thank the members who turned out for Monday night’s Board Meeting. I appreciate and value everyone’s input as we work together on this year’s Giving Budget.

Yours in Rotary,
